VOICE SERVICES
PSTN Telstra Wholesale's local call and access services provide you with the ability to market untimed local calls under your own brand by using Telstra's Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) under a rebill arrangement. With these services you can offer your customers local calls to any other phone user in the same standard zone for a fixed price regardless of the length of call. Telstra Wholesale's basic telephone access service gives you reach and reliability without having to build your own network.

The service connects a customer's business or home line from a customer network boundary to a Telstra local phone exchange. By accessing Telstra's PSTN, you can market yourself as a local carriage service and expand your voice products portfolio.

ISDN ISDN is a great way to enjoy fast Internet access across Australia. With speeds of up to 128kbps*, it is significantly faster than a standard dial-up Internet connection - but it still uses your existing phone line. ISDN is available to some 96% of the population, making it an ideal high speed, low cost solution for all but the most remote locations.

ISDN gives you a number of benefits:

If you live in a rural or remote area, BigPond ISDN is more widely available than Broadband ASDL or Cable.
You can browse the net faster than on a dial-up plan, with ISDN speeds of up to 64kbps or even up to 128kbps, depending on how your equipment is configured.
You could save on call costs. For BigPond ISDN customers, data calls to the BigPond Dial-Up access number (0198 308 888) using your ISDN Home service are included in your monthly plan fee.
You don't need a separate phone line for the Internet, because your ISDN set-up establishes two channels on the same line, so you can talk on the phone with one channel and surf the net with the other. Alternatively, you can use your 2 channels for voice or fax.

DATA SERVICES
ADSL By making the most efficient use of existing phone lines, ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) lets you enjoy incredibly fast Internet services with a minimum of hassle.

Apart from the high-speed router or modem that you have in your home, all the technology of ADSL is housed at your local telephone exchange. The system uses advanced digital signal processing and creative algorithms to squeeze massive amounts of information through normal twisted-pair telephone lines. So the two traffic streams don't interfere. Basically, a POTS splitter at the exchange and a signal filter in your ADSL modem keep the voice and data signals apart. It's like having two TVs in your house. You only need one rooftop aerial, even when Mum's watching 'Blue Heelers' in one room while Dad's watching footy in another.

INTERNET SERVICES
BigPond 'Broadband' is an umbrella term for a number of high-speed Internet access options. ADSL, Cable and Satellite* all fall into the Broadband category, giving you a number of options for enjoying an amazing online experience.

You see the thing that all Broadband access methods have in common is incredible speed. These are among the fastest ways for you to surf, share, download, upload and play games online.

BigPond Broadband is an 'always on' service so that you don't have to dial-up each time you want to access the Internet, giving you full use of your phone service. So you can keep calling, chatting and faxing while you're connected.

Cable lets you enjoy some exciting differences:

You can download large files fast. Cable gives you access to super-fast broadband Internet. Uncapped download speeds mean you'll enjoy best-available speeds all the time, so even large downloads take a lot less waiting. And the Cable connection is far more robust than dial-up, so you won't have to start again because the line dropped out.
Your Internet access doesn't interfere with other services to your house. You can still watch Foxtel while you're online, as well as making and answering phone calls, having a chat, or sending and receiving faxes. Everything works just like it did before.
Your Internet connection is always on. Because Cable doesn't interfere with your phone services, why would you ever turn it off? It doesn't tie up the lines like dial-up, and there are no time-out limits from our end. So you can leave it set up to connect instantly, automatically. Just turn on your computer and go like the wind.
You can save on call costs and extra line rental. With an 'always-on' Broadband Cable connection, you can forget about the busy signals, drop-outs, call costs, and connection delays of dial-up Internet
